An Appeal To All Good Samaritans

As our organization decided to take up this initiative to help a family in their dire need, we can only do with your support and wishes to achieve the target. The Family approached us in the year 2006. We have appointed a committee to study the case and the committee came up with the suggestion to extend our hands confirming the genuiness of the case and cause.

Mr.V.K.Balamurali, 45 years of age at present, was studying for Pre-degree course and also working in a travel Agency to help his family, unfortunately succumbed to mental depression following his father’s sudden death in 1987. There after, he had been in treatment in all available branches of medicine from prominent medical institutions in South India. Doctors opine that he is suffering from Schizoprenia and to be in medication life long to lead a below normal life. His father Late.V.P.Krishna Iyer, was a salesman with Brooke Bond India Ltd., survived by his wife and 6 children (4 boys and 2 girls). Mr.Murali was the youngest one and other 3 elder brothers (2 with Metrics and 1 with Pre-metric education) are pulling their own families with meager incomes from private jobs. At present, the family is exhausted of the all the funds they had.

Mr. Murali is now an inpatient in S.H.Hospital, Pynkulam, Thodupuzha, Kerala for the last 14 years. To keep him in this condition, monthly expenses is around Rs.4500/- per month including Medicine and Food. The family is channeling all the sources hitherto towards this, but the recurring expenses had come to an outstanding of around Rs.2. 5 lacs . A Philanthropic Group by name "KERALA IYERS TRUST" , Mumbai has contributed Rs.1.00 lac towards this and the hospital authorities have now written off the outstanding to nil by accounting this crontribution. This is a big achievement to our effort, Thanks to the Trust as well as the Hospital authorities and thanks to the all noble souls who have put in their effort for this endeavour. But, we want to keep going the monthly contribution of Rs.4,500/- which we have started from the month of July, 2009. We are mobilising monthly amount to send to hospital mainly from monthly contributions from the philanthropists, we have to make a fund so as to ensure the monthly contribution towards this noble cause without any hurdle, so please help to make a CORPUS FUND. Kindly contribute as per your might, whatsoever, to Mr.Balamurali's monthly treatment expenses. We have successfully achieved our phase 1 & 2 of our mission and now we are on our Phase 3 of our mission ie., Rehabilitation of the Mr.V.K.Balamurali, kindly join hands with us.

Our Mission of this project is :

To reduce the financial burden of this family.

To help Mr.Balamurali to lead a relatively normal life if possible.

We have a future to look forward, but every one is not that much luckyHelp Please.

Our plan for support :-

To contribute to reduce the outstanding amount. (Accomlished)

To create a fund for a monthly support for the expenses

You can donate any amount to us with a clear mandate for utilization :-

To give to the hospital authorities for reduction of outstanding . (accomplished)

To keep as Fixed deposit (endowment fund) for utilization of interest on monthly basis.

To keep as Fixed Deposit in your own name and credit the interest monthly to our account so that it can be send to the hospital on monthly basis.

( FD receipt can be kept by you or else can be held in our trust for follow-up renewal etc.,) The same can be returned to you on expiry of the period of deposit or else can be renewed for a further period as per your advice.

In the absence of any mandate, the fund would be utilized in either (a) or (b) above by our organization. And if the present purpose is become needless by any reason, the fund will be utilized for similar projects only.

An Appeal

To,
The Secretary,
THIRD EYE,
Calicut.

Dear Sir

An Appeal

I, Mrs.Rajalakshmi, aged 76 years, a Brahmin widow is a tenant of a rented house which is a self contained small two room portion of a Lane in which three families are living. I have four sons, my two daughters were married to middle class families. Three sons are employed in shops and private firms. My husband Mr. V.P.Krishnan expired on 4th June, 1987. He was employed in Brook Bond India Ltd., got retired in 1982.

My youngest son Mr.Balamurali.V.K. aged 41 years who was very attached to his father was mentally disturbed by his father’s death and by 1990 he showed sings of mental problem. His job in a Travel Agency was initially promising but had to quit due to this problem. The disease grabbed him and no stone was left unturned for his treatment and he was given treatment in all the branches of medicine. He was taken to various places for treatment including ‘NIMHANS’ Bangalore. But all these efforts were in vain and more over from some centres, he go admitted for treatment, he had developed Kidney and skin infections.

Presently, he is under resident treatment for the last 9 years in S.H.Hospital, Thodupuzha, Kerala, where he showed some signs of improvement. If the medicines are discontinued even for one day, he becomes abnormal. Thrice on the advice of the hospital authorities/doctors he was discharged and brought to house, where he refused to take medicines after some days making him abnormal. So it is imperative that he be given treatment regularly and continuously for life long which is possible only from hospitals.

The prolonged treatment for my youngest son involved a huge amount to the tune of Rs.4.00 lakhs which is totally unthinkable to a family like us but was somehow managed and met from his father’s small savings and helping hands from my sons having their own families to survive and from the support from relatives and friends. The present monthly expenses in the hospital including nursing, medicines, food and other charges comes to around Rs.5000/-. This recurring expenses is putting a heavy burden on the brothers.

As a way out the hospital authorities have suggested that if a lumpsum amount around Rs.6 lakhs is made, they will look after him throughout his life. This has been offered by the hospital authorities considering his young age. Another hospital in Wayanad District viz., Louse Mount Hospital has also suggested a similar thing. A small portion of this can be raised by his brothers and through contributions from relatives and Philanthropists.

So, this appeal is specially made by us before your goodself to save my family from this hardship which we pulled on upto our last fortune.

All the documents pertaining to his treatment are submitted herewith for your perusal and records.
